Brooks Ghost 14 Review: Overview
The Ghost has a sizable fan base. Every year, a particular type of runner purchases the Ghost: the kind of runner who prefers not to take chances for running shoes.
Brooks declared this summer that its objective is to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. By recycling resources and purchasing carbon offsets. One of the best-selling Ghost 14 shoe, recreated with recycled, bio-based components to become the company’s first carbon-neutral shoe.
For many runners, the Brooks Ghost 14 has been a long-time favorite. It’s a cushioned, neutral daily trainer designed for comfort and consistency over a wide range of runs. This long-lasting shoe grips your foot with sufficient cushioning throughout the shoe and could go the distance.

Brooks Ghost 14 Detailed Review
Midsole
The Brooks Ghost 14 neutral running shoe now features a complete DNA Loft midsole compared to the Ghost 13, which only had a half DNA Loft midsole. The BioMoGo DNA section of the midsole has been deleted, leaving the Ghost 14 with simply DNA Loft foam, similar to its plusher counterpart, the Glycerin. Many foams are made up of 100% DNA Loft midsole, which is softer underfoot than the prior.
While this may appear to be a significant upgrade on paper, the ride experience is comparable to that of the Ghost 13. The shoe is comfortable to wear. It is not soft or mushy, and you won’t sink into the midsole. It is not a recovery shoe or extremely cushioned, and it is also not stiff or brick-like.
Laces
Brooks eventually abandoned the round laces on the 14 and replaced them with flat laces, which, in our opinion, fit more comfortably across the top of your foot.

Upper
The upper of any Ghost is always the focal point, and the Ghost 14 is no exception. The tongue, heel tab, and collar all provide plenty of foam padding to cushion your feet. The Ghost is undoubtedly the comfiest of all the everyday trainers.
Because the tongue is still not gusseted, it slides to the side. Only the top-of-the-line Glycerin comes with a premium tongue gusset. The forefoot is more accommodating, thanks to the 3D print mesh upper.
Thanks to the thinner mesh, the forefoot feels more spacious, yet it still fits true to size. If you need it, it comes in four different men’s widths and three other women’s widths.
The tongue is thick, and the extremely tough ankle collar delivers a gentle touch around your ankle and Achilles. When you compare that to the average shoes, you’ll see how well-designed this shoe is.
Outsole
The next point in the review of Brooks Ghost 14 is the outsole, it comprises two types of rubber: soft rubber on the forefoot and more arduous, more durable carbon rubber on the heel.
The 5mm outsole is durable (compared to 3.8mm on average), and the midsole, while softer than previous iterations, is still solid and won’t wear out too quickly. The Ghost 14 does its job well, with a superb upper that keeps the foot in place and an outsole that gripped well in all conditions on the road and canal towpaths for me.
Since the medial side of the midsole has been modified to a softer material, there is now more outsole rubber on the medial side of the midsole to provide the Ghost 14 additional medial stability.

Design and fit
The Brooks Ghost 14 is designed to be a no-fuss workhorse for daily usage, whether you run on pavement, a treadmill, or even modest dirt trails. Because of this, the Ghost 14 is meant to fit a wide range of people and fit well.
Brooks Ghost 14 uses a 3D print fit that adjusts to the foot and feels secure, so the mesh top is meant to provide enough comfort and support. Brooks has also beefed up the heel collar to give the shoe a more secure fit in the back.
According to the brooks ghost 14 neutral running shoe review, designers had given it more thought as a training shoe. Because it will undoubtedly be utilized on night runs or in low-light circumstances. It has a spacious upper that makes it a good fit for people with big feet, but it did not seem too roomy for our narrow feet. The flexible top provides a comfortable, snug fit in the toe box, and the space extends to the toe box.
Performance
The simplest way to describe how the Ghost 14 feels, while running is that it feels like a reliable shoe. That may not sound like the highest praise, but it delivers everything you’d expect from a daily trainer workhorse.
It is not very fast at higher speeds and won’t make speed sessions particularly enjoyable, but it’s more than adequate for putting in easy or steady-paced kilometers.

Cushioning
The revised softer midsole and Segmented Crash Pad work together to make the transition from landing to toe-off smoother. During easy runs, it didn’t feel as plush and comfortable as the Glycerin or the Nike, and it did not have the same energetic ride as other everyday trainers like New Balance’s FuelCell Rebel v2 or Fresh Foam 1080v11. All of those shoes were comfy as the Ghost 14, but with the added benefit of more responsive midsole foams.
What it gives you is incredibly consistent with every step while also allowing you to pick up the pace significantly. Expect modest energy returns, but this cushioning is still well suited to long training runs.
